Bijliride plans to deploy 2,500 additional electric two-wheelers over the next 90 days as demand for commercial EV mobility rises across India’s gig economy and delivery ecosystem.
The EV rental startup currently operates a fleet of over 4,000 EVs and is expanding across Hyderabad while evaluating new markets including Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and select Tier-2 cities through franchise-led partnerships.
Gig Economy Driving EV Demand
The expansion highlights how delivery fleets, quick-commerce operators, and logistics networks are increasingly becoming major drivers of EV adoption in India.
According to Bijliride, delivery riders travelling between 120–150 kilometres daily can potentially save between ₹8,000–15,000 per month by switching from petrol-powered vehicles to EVs.
Key Highlights Of The Expansion
- 2,500 electric two-wheelers to be deployed over the next 90 days
- Expansion aimed at strengthening last-mile and gig economy mobility operations
- Deployment focused on high-demand delivery and commercial mobility markets
- Move aligns with rising demand for sustainable fleet solutions in urban India
- Fleet expansion expected to support delivery partners and platform-led mobility services
Infrastructure-Led Scaling Strategy
Beyond vehicle deployment, Bijliride is also scaling its operational ecosystem through its STAR hub-and-spoke model, battery swapping network, and SaaS-led fleet management platform. The company said it is expanding charging infrastructure, customer support systems, and service touchpoints to improve fleet uptime and operational efficiency.
HEV’s Take
India’s next phase of EV adoption may be driven less by personal mobility and more by commercial utilisation economics. Companies solving rider affordability, fleet uptime, and charging convenience could emerge as some of the strongest players in the country’s electric mobility ecosystem.
