JSW MG Motor has launched the new Hector Tomahawk in both electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, introducing a flexible approach to electrification with its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.
Tomahawk Brings Two Electrified Powertrains
The Hector Tomahawk is the first vehicle based on MG’s ADAPT platform, which is designed to accommodate multiple powertrain technologies.
Pricing With and Without BaaS
- Hector Tomahawk EV: ₹19.49 lakh
- Hector Tomahawk PHEV: ₹25.69 lakh
- EV with BaaS: ₹13.99 lakh + ₹4.90/km battery rental
- PHEV with BaaS: ₹21.79 lakh + ₹3.20/km battery rental
The BaaS model separates the battery cost from the vehicle’s upfront price, potentially making electrified vehicles more accessible to buyers.
EV Offers 517km Claimed Range
The Tomahawk EV is equipped with a 2kWh battery, a 150kW electric motor and 90kW DC fast-charging capability. It delivers a claimed range of 517km.
The EV also introduces vehicle-to-home (V2H) functionality, enabling the vehicle battery to supply power to selected household appliances.
PHEV Targets More Than 1,100km Range
The PHEV combines a 20.5kWh battery with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. It offers more than 115km of electric driving range and a claimed combined range exceeding 1,100km.
A Flexible Route to Electrification
The Hector Tomahawk highlights a growing shift towards multiple electrification pathways in India. By combining EV and PHEV technology with BaaS, JSW MG is addressing both range concerns and the upfront cost barrier.
The Tomahawk could therefore represent a significant step toward making electrified mobility more flexible and accessible for Indian consumers.
