The Uttar Pradesh government has extended its Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy till 2027, providing an additional three years of subsidies and incentives to promote clean mobility solutions in the state.
This extension comes after the state recently exempted all hybrid vehicles from road tax and registration fees, offering significant cost savings to buyers.
Under this extended scheme, the UP government continues to offer a subsidy of ₹5,000 for electric two-wheelers and up to ₹1 lakh for fully-electric cars. At the time of the policy’s inception in October 2022, the UP government had allocated ₹100 crore to subsidize 200,000 two-wheelers and ₹250 crore for four-wheelers. Additionally, the program offers ₹20 lakh for private electric buses and ₹12,000 per electric three-wheeler.
The extension of the EV policy demonstrates the state’s commitment to promoting sustainable transportation and establishing a supportive environment for EV adoption. By providing financial incentives and tax exemptions, the government aims to encourage a transition from conventional fuel vehicles to electric options. This move is expected to boost the EV market in Uttar Pradesh and contribute to the overall reduction of carbon emissions.
