ChargeZone announces large-scale highway charging expansion

ChargeZone has announced a major plan to deploy over 1,000 supercharging stations across India by FY2027. The rollout will use a Dealer Owned, Company Operated (DOCO) model. This model allows private investors to own stations while the company manages operations.

The initiative aligns with the PM E-Drive Initiative, which supports faster EV adoption across the country. Financial backing from State Bank of India will help support infrastructure investment.

Key highway corridors selected for expansion

The company plans to deploy charging stations along major transport corridors. These include the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, Bengaluru–Chennai Corridor, and Mumbai–Hyderabad Corridor.

These routes carry heavy passenger and commercial traffic. High-capacity charging stations along these highways will reduce range anxiety. It will also support electric logistics vehicles operating between cities.

Renewable integration strengthens charging reliability

ChargeZone will also introduce Project E-DHARA. This project integrates renewable energy generation and battery storage with fast-charging stations. Charging capacities between 500 kW and 1.5 MW are planned to support future EV demand.

This renewable-focused design reduces grid dependence and lowers emissions. It also ensures reliable performance even during peak usage periods.

Innovative ownership models driving EV growth

The DOCO model represents a new business approach in EV infrastructure. It encourages participation from landowners and entrepreneurs. This reduces the financial burden on a single company and speeds up deployment timelines.

As India continues its transition toward electric mobility, scalable and collaborative infrastructure models like this will play a major role in enabling nationwide EV adoption.
