Electric Two-Wheeler Registrations Cross 1 Million in H1 FY27

India’s electric two-wheeler market crossed the 1 million-registration mark in the first half of FY27, with September volumes surging 85% year on year, according to Vahan data compiled by Nuvama.

September EV Two-Wheeler Sales Surge

Electric two-wheeler registrations reached 2,03,411 units in September 2026, up 85% YoY and 12% from August’s 1,82,078 units. EVs accounted for 11.4% of total two-wheeler registrations, compared with 10.5% in August.

  • H1 FY27 registrations: 11,08,606 units
  • H1 growth: 73% YoY
  • Q2 FY27 registrations: 5,88,740 units
  • Q2 growth: 80% YoY

According to Nuvama, improving consumer acceptance, a wider range of models and higher aspirational value are supporting EV adoption.

TVS Leads as Bajaj Narrows the Gap

TVS Motor Company remained the market leader in September with 53,989 registrations, up 126% YoY and holding a 26.5% share.

Bajaj Auto followed with 48,383 units, up 139% YoY, taking a 23.8% share.

Ather Energy ranked third with 30,477 registrations, while Hero MotoCorp recorded 24,305 units.

Ola Loses Ground as Established Players Gain

Ola Electric registered 13,449 units, with its market share falling to 6.6%.

Meanwhile, TVS, Bajaj and Hero together accounted for 62% of September registrations, highlighting the increasing presence of established manufacturers.

Market Could Cross 2 Million in FY27

With 11.09 lakh registrations in H1 FY27, India’s electric two-wheeler market is on pace to exceed 2 million units in FY27. The market would need around 8.91 lakh registrations in H2 to reach that milestone.
