BEML has unveiled the BH60-EV, India’s first indigenous 60-ton electric dump truck, developed for demanding mining and infrastructure applications. The electric heavy-duty vehicle was unveiled at BEML’s Mysuru Complex on September 30, 2026.

1,000kWh Battery Powers Heavy-Duty Operations

The BH60-EV is equipped with a 1,000kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). It also features a rugged gearbox designed to handle demanding operating conditions.

Key highlights include:

  • 60-ton class electric dump truck
  • 54,500kg payload with rock body
  • 36.4 cubic metre volumetric body capacity
  • 1,000kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery
  • PMSM electric motor
  • High tractive effort and instant torque
  • Designed for operation on gradients

Up To 60% Lower Operating Costs

BEML says the BH60-EV can deliver 40-60 percent lower operating costs compared with conventional diesel-powered equipment, depending on operating conditions. The truck can also potentially reduce CO₂ emissions by around 130 tonnes per vehicle annually.

The company has developed a dedicated charging station solution designed to integrate with site electrical infrastructure and support fleet operations.

Built For Safety And Mining Applications

The electric dump truck incorporates several features aimed at improving safety and durability in demanding environments. These include:

  • Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS)
  • Emergency steering system
  • Sealed oil-cooled disc brakes
  • High power-to-weight ratio
  • Improved acceleration and gradeability

Expanding BEML’s Electric Mining Portfolio

The BH60-EV follows BEML’s 35-ton electric dump truck, launched in April 2026. With the new 60-ton model, BEML is expanding its electric equipment portfolio into higher-capacity mining and infrastructure applications.

Developed at the Mysuru Complex, the BH60-EV highlights BEML’s focus on indigenous engineering and electrification of heavy industrial equipment.
