Kinetic Powers Up: New Maharashtra Plant Set to Energize India’s EV Dreams

Kinetic Group EV battery manufacturing facility

February 24th, 2025

A new chapter in India’s electric vehicle story has begun. Kinetic Group has just opened its advanced battery plant in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The company will make 60,000 battery packs each year at this Rs. 50 crore facility.

Moreover, the plant will produce two types of Range-X branded batteries. These include Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) versions for electric two and three-wheelers.

The modern facility stands out because of its smart features. First, it uses IoT-enabled production lines. Additionally, every battery goes through strict quality checks at each production stage.

“We are committed to making sustainable battery technology right here in India,” says Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Kinetic Group. Furthermore, the company is developing local Battery Management Systems under government programs.

The Range-X batteries come with special safety features. These include protection against overheating and smart battery management. Besides this, the company uses materials that can be recycled, helping protect the environment.

This launch comes at the right time. After all, experts predict India’s EV market will grow to US$ 18.319 billion by 2029.

The new facility joins Kinetic’s large Ahmednagar complex. Currently, this site has 32 manufacturing buildings and employs 1,000 people. Well-known car makers like Renault, TATA Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Ashok Leyland trust Kinetic as their supplier.

Finally, this move supports India’s push for local manufacturing. Through special incentive programs, the government wants to reduce imports. Therefore, this plant helps build a stronger domestic EV supply chain.

For investors interested in Kinetic’s growth, the company trades on the Bombay Stock Exchange under ticker 500240.
