Ashok Leyland has entered into a strategic partnership with Nidec Motor Corporation to co-develop novel e-drive motors and electric drive systems for India’s commercial electric vehicle (EV) sector. This collaboration will accelerate electric mobility for commercial vehicles like trucks and buses by developing technology tailored to India’s challenging terrains.
Establishing a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Electric Drive Units (EDUs)
As part of the agreement, Ashok Leyland and Nidec will establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for the development of Electric Drive Units (EDUs). The CoE will focus on creating motor technologies, power electronics systems, and innovative gear-shifting mechanisms that enhance the efficiency and performance of electric vehicles.
