Hero MotoCorp is significantly accelerating its electric vehicle expansion, targeting an EV production capacity of 45,000 units per month by the end of FY2027. The planned expansion will triple the company’s capacity from the 15,000-unit monthly level recorded at the end of FY2026.
EV Capacity Doubles Already, More Expansion Planned
Hero MotoCorp’s EV manufacturing capacity has already reached nearly 30,000 units per month in the first week of August. The company plans to add another 15,000 units of monthly capacity before the end of the financial year.
CEO Harshavardhan Chitale said the capacity expansion is being driven by strong retail demand and rapid movement of vehicles through dealerships.
Almost Zero Dealer Inventory Supports Growth
The company currently has only 2–3 days of dealer inventory, depending on the region. This indicates that vehicles supplied to dealerships are being retailed quickly.

- EV capacity to reach 45,000 units/month by FY27-end

Vida Expands Electric Scooter Portfolio
Hero MotoCorp is also strengthening its Vida electric scooter lineup. The company introduced the Vida VX2 Plus with a 4.4 kWh battery and an IDC-certified range of 187 km, followed by the VX2 Go with a 3.1 kWh battery.
The company expects these models to support further EV volume growth as demand increases.
Electric Motorcycles Coming Next
Hero MotoCorp is also preparing to expand beyond electric scooters. The company plans to introduce motorcycles based on its UBEX platform, along with products developed through its collaboration with Zero Motorcycles.
With higher production capacity, a broader product portfolio and strong retail demand, Hero MotoCorp is positioning EVs as an increasingly important contributor to its future business.
