Swiggy Instamart has partnered with Yulu and Yuma Energy to expand access to electric two-wheelers and battery-swapping infrastructure for its delivery partners. The initiative aims to address key barriers to EV adoption, including vehicle affordability, charging access and downtime during last-mile deliveries.

Yuma Battery Swapping Stations to Come Closer to Delivery Hubs

Under the partnership with Yuma Energy, Instamart will provide space at its PODs, or dark stores, for battery-swapping stations. Yuma currently operates more than 2,000 battery-swapping units, with each battery swap taking less than two minutes.

Instamart said delivery partners travelling more than 90km per day may require around two battery swaps. Locating swapping stations closer to PODs could save riders up to 60 minutes of travel and waiting time each day.

Key highlights:

  • More than 2,000 Yuma battery-swapping units currently operational
  • Battery swaps completed in under two minutes
  • Stations being placed at participating Instamart PODs
  • Potential savings of up to 60 minutes of travel and waiting time per day

The first swapping station under the initiative was inaugurated earlier in September at an Instamart POD.

Yulu Rental Cashback Cuts EV Costs

Instamart is also working with Yulu to provide rental cashback incentives to delivery partners using its electric two-wheelers. The programme, launched in May 2026, has already benefited thousands of delivery partners.

According to Instamart, the incentives have reduced rental expenses for participating riders by up to 30%, helping lower the cost of switching from petrol-powered vehicles to EVs.

Expanding India’s Electric Last-Mile Delivery Network

Instamart, along with Swiggy, currently works with more than 50 EV partners across India. The Yulu and Yuma partnerships combine EV access, rental support and battery swapping to improve the practicality of electric mobility for delivery operations.
