Fresh Bus has launched an electric AC sleeper bus service connecting Bengaluru and Hyderabad, marking its entry into long-haul intercity operations. Covering more than 600km, the new route will use ultra-fast charging halts to support electric buses during the journey.
600km+ Electric Route Connects Bengaluru and Hyderabad
The service will operate with 13.5-metre all-electric sleeper buses equipped with 39 berths. Fresh Bus expects the route to carry around 18,000 passengers a month at full deployment.
The company is targeting approximately 80% initial occupancy, with maturity occupancy expected to reach around 90%.
Key features include:
- 39 sleeper berths with AC
- Reading lights and passenger charging points
- Bedsheets, pillows and blankets
- Snack box and water bottle for passengers
- CCTV surveillance and speed-governed operations
Ultra-Fast Charging Supports Long-Distance Operations
Fresh Bus says the Bengaluru–Hyderabad corridor will feature ultra-fast charging stops, which it claims will be a first for an intercity electric bus operator on this route.
A mid-journey halt will also provide passengers with restrooms and a break during the trip, helping make the long-distance journey more convenient.
Fresh Bus Targets Scalable Electric Intercity Model
According to founder and CEO Sudhakar Chirra, the Bengaluru–Hyderabad corridor is intended to demonstrate how electric buses can operate efficiently on longer routes. Fresh Bus plans to use the experience to develop a scalable model for other high-demand intercity corridors.
The company currently operates more than 80 buses across 18 routes and says it has served 25.6 lakh passengers. It plans to expand its electric intercity network across South India, including additional routes connecting Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
