Qualcomm and Tata Electronics to Manufacture Automotive Modules in India at Assam OSAT Facility

Volume 1 Issue 11

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Tata Electronics have announced a partnership to manufacture Qualcomm Automotive Modules in India. The modules will be produced at Tata Electronics’ upcoming Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Jagiroad, Assam, strengthening India’s semiconductor manufacturing footprint.

This move brings India into Qualcomm’s global automotive module production network and supports the country’s broader ambition to scale domestic high-technology manufacturing. The collaboration is positioned to serve both Indian and global automotive markets as demand for advanced electronics accelerates.

Supporting Software-Defined and Connected Vehicle Platforms

Qualcomm Automotive Modules integrate Snapdragon Digital Chassis system-on-chips (SoCs) with essential hardware components into production-ready solutions. These modules are designed for digital cockpits, infotainment systems, connectivity platforms, and intelligent vehicle architectures.

As automakers shift toward software-defined vehicles, demand for scalable and modular electronics solutions is rising sharply. Local production of these modules enhances supply chain resilience and reduces dependency on imports, while supporting faster deployment of advanced technologies in EVs and connected vehicles.

Expanding India’s Semiconductor and EV Ecosystem

The OSAT facility in Assam represents a significant milestone for India’s semiconductor assembly and testing capabilities. By enabling domestic production of high-value automotive electronics, the partnership strengthens integration between semiconductor manufacturing and the country’s growing electric mobility ecosystem.

For OEMs, the localisation of automotive module production can shorten development cycles and improve supply reliability. For the industry, the collaboration reflects a broader shift toward building resilient, regionally diversified semiconductor supply chains aligned with the rapid evolution of automotive technology.
