HARMAN unveils software-defined vehicle tools and in-cabin technologies for modern OEMs

Volume 1 Issue 11

Expanded SDV toolchain to accelerate development and lifecycle updates

HARMAN, a Samsung Electronics subsidiary, has launched an expanded suite of software-defined vehicle (SDV) development and execution tools designed to help automakers accelerate validation, secure mixed-criticality computing and streamline lifecycle updates. The portfolio includes Ready CQuence Loop, a cloud-based development and testing environment supporting virtual and physical validation across Android, Linux and embedded systems, and Ready CQuence Run, which integrates a Type-1 automotive hypervisor to isolate mixed-criticality workloads as computing systems consolidate. HARMAN’s over-the-air (OTA) update platform and Smart Delta system, deployed in more than 80 million vehicles, support continuous improvement and feature deployment through the vehicle lifecycle.

Complementing the SDV tools is the Ready Link Marketplace, offering 190+ in-vehicle applications and services with features such as Welcome Wizard, Smart App Recommender and controlled beta testing. This marketplace enables OEMs to create differentiated, monetizable experiences that can be updated and expanded post-production. Together, these elements help reduce development complexity, accelerate time-to-market for new software features and support evolving consumer expectations of connected, upgradable vehicles.

Intelligent safety and personalization technologies

HARMAN’s in-cabin safety suite includes enhanced Ready Care and Ready Aware systems. Ready Care adds precise occupant monitoring including vital signs and position sensing to improve airbag deployment decisions and driver engagement insights. Ready Aware harnesses machine-learning-based hazard alerts through vehicle-to-network connectivity, reducing false positives and improving situational awareness for drivers. The Ready Connect telematics platform underpins these safety systems with scalable communication support across short-range, long-range and satellite links.

On the personalization front, HARMAN’s audio and visual innovations bring new dimensions to in-vehicle experiences. Ready StreamShare enables multi-device wireless audio orchestration and individual listening zones, while HALOsonic Electronic Sound Synthesis and HARMAN Branded Audio Experience Packages offer customizable acoustic signatures and AI-driven sensory environments. Visual technologies such as Ready Display NQ1 deployed in production vehicleand Ready Vision QVUE, an augmented reality head-up display, extend immersive display capabilities inside the cabin.

These advancements underscore how OEMs are shifting toward software-centric strategies that blend safety, personalization, connectivity and lifecycle upgradability essential components of modern electric and software-defined vehicles.
