MP’s Electric Dreams: New Policy Makes EVs Affordable and Easy to Use
Madhya Pradesh is taking a big step toward a cleaner future with its new Electric Vehicle Policy-2025. The state wants to help more people switch to electric vehicles by making them cheaper and easier to use.
First, the state has picked five cities – Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Ujjain – to lead this green movement. These cities will soon have special areas just for electric vehicles, including convenient parking spots.
Moreover, the government is setting a strong example. “We plan to convert 80% of our official vehicles to electric,” explains a senior government official. This move shows the state’s strong commitment to clean transport.
Additionally, the policy brings good news for anyone thinking about buying an electric vehicle. You won’t have to pay vehicle tax or registration fees. Furthermore, if you want to convert your old vehicle to electric, the government will help with the cost. Every electric vehicle will get a special green number plate – white text for personal cars and yellow for business use.
But what about charging? The state has that covered too. You’ll find charging stations every 20 kilometers on highways. For longer trips, fast-charging spots will be available every 100 kilometers. Meanwhile, in cities, there will be at least one charging station in every square kilometer.
Even better, all gas stations will soon offer electric charging.
The state is also backing innovation in the EV sector. Companies can get up to ₹2 crore to set up research centers and buy testing equipment. Plus, more startup centers will open to support new EV businesses.
Finally, to manage all these changes, the state has created the Madhya Pradesh EV Promotion Board. This team will guide the state’s electric vehicle journey and ensure everything runs smoothly.
Through these steps, Madhya Pradesh aims to become a leader in India’s electric vehicle revolution. The policy not only helps the environment but also creates new jobs and business opportunities for local residents.
