EKA Mobility has achieved a significant manufacturing milestone with the rollout of its 1,000th small commercial electric vehicle (SCV) from its Chakan facility in Pune. The achievement comes as India’s electric commercial vehicle market continues to gain momentum, driven by rising demand from logistics, e-commerce, and fleet operators.

A Milestone Beyond Production Numbers

The landmark vehicle, an EKA 6S electric passenger three-wheeler, was delivered to Pune’s Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Trust on World Environment Day.

Designed to accommodate a driver and six passengers, the EKA 6S is positioned as India’s first steering-wheel passenger electric three-wheeler in this seating category.

According to the company, the milestone reflects growing acceptance of zero-emission mobility solutions across urban transportation and last-mile connectivity segments.

International Partnerships Strengthen EKA’s Vision

In a symbolic gesture highlighting global collaboration in sustainable mobility, EKA Mobility also presented an EKA 3S electric three-wheeler to Marisa Gerards, the Netherlands’ Ambassador to India.

The move reflects EKA’s international ties through its strategic backing from Dutch industrial group VDL Groep and Japan’s Mitsui & Co.

Building Capacity for Future Growth

EKA’s manufacturing footprint continues to expand rapidly.

Key highlights include:

  • Chakan facility dedicated to SCV and truck manufacturing
  • Bus manufacturing plant at Koregaon Bhima, Pune
  • 47-acre manufacturing facility under development at Pithampur
  • More than 1,000 employees across operations
  • In-house R&D centre with over 400 engineers and designers

Once fully operational, EKA’s facilities are expected to support annual production of:

  • 24,000 Small Commercial Vehicles
  • 15,000 Buses
  • 4,000 Trucks

Why This Matters

The rollout of EKA’s 1,000th SCV signals more than a manufacturing achievement. It reflects the increasing electrification of India’s commercial vehicle ecosystem, where fleet operators are prioritizing lower operating costs and sustainable transport solutions.

As demand for electric logistics and passenger mobility grows, manufacturers with domestic production capabilities and scalable platforms are positioning themselves to capture the next phase of India’s commercial EV transition.
