Mercedes‑Benz has launched the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric in India, marking the return of the CLA nameplate as a fully electric sedan. Set to replace earlier ICE-powered models, the CLA Electric will be offered with bookings opening on 10 March 2026 and an official launch scheduled for April 2026.
This launch strengthens Mercedes-Benz’s EV portfolio in the Indian luxury segment, directly competing with premium electric sedans and offering a compelling long-range solution for discerning EV buyers in key urban markets.
Long Range and Fast Charging Performance
The India-spec CLA Electric 250+ is powered by an 85.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an 800-volt electrical architecture. The setup delivers a WLTP-claimed range of up to 792 km on a single charge, one of the highest figures in its class. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is claimed at around 6.7 seconds, while the electric powertrain is paired with a two-speed gearbox for enhanced efficiency and performance.
The vehicle supports DC fast charging up to 240 kW, enabling approximately 400 km of range to be added in about 20 minutes, helping reduce charging downtime for long journeys and highway use.
Design, Technology and Interior Features
The CLA Electric carries a sleek coupe-like silhouette with an aerodynamic drag coefficient that aids efficiency. Exterior styling includes a blanked-off grille with illuminated star motifs, connected LED lighting, flush-fitting door handles, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the sedan features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch central touchscreen running the latest MB.OS infotainment system. Advanced driver assistance systems, panoramic glass roof, and premium cabin materials underscore its luxury positioning.
The CLA Electric’s combination of substantial range, fast-charging capability and technology-rich interior establishes it as a competitive choice in India’s premium EV landscape and signals Mercedes-Benz’s continued focus on electrification in its Indian product strategy.
