Terra Charge and AAI Launch EV Charging Station at Agartala Airport

Greaves Electric Mobility

In a major boost to Northeast India’s green mobility efforts, Terra Charge and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) have inaugurated a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala, Tripura. This development is a key milestone in India’s push toward accessible and reliable EV infrastructure, especially in emerging regions like the Northeast.

Powering Tripura’s EV Policy

Tripura recently became the 15th state in India, and the third in the Northeast, to implement a formal EV policy. The launch of the charging station at MBB Airport aligns perfectly with this policy, supporting cleaner, more sustainable modes of transportation in the region.

Why this matters:

  • Encourages EV adoption by addressing charging accessibility.
  • Supports government efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Provides infrastructure where it’s needed most — at key transit points.

A Strategic Location for Clean Energy

The charging station is located conveniently near the VIP car parking area of MBB Airport, making it accessible for travelers, local commuters, and transport services.

Key features of the station include:

  • 7.4 kW and 10 kW chargers: Powered by advanced Japanese technology for efficient and safe charging.
  • User-friendly access: Operated through the Terra Charge Mobile App, which offers:
    • Location tracking
    • Digital payments
    • Contactless session initiation

AAI and Terra Charge’s National Vision

This launch is part of a broader, long-term partnership between Terra Charge and AAI to develop EV charging infrastructure at airports across India. By placing stations at high-footfall transportation hubs, the initiative aims to make EV ownership more practical and appealing.

Other key airport deployments by Terra Charge:

  • Operational: Bhopal, Ranchi
  • Upcoming: Srinagar, Imphal

Voices from the Launch

The event was attended by key dignitaries, including:

  • CK Jamatia, Secretary, Tripura Transport Department
  • KC Mina, Airport Director, MBB Airport

Go Suzuki, Managing Director of Terra Charge, stated:

“Airports are critical to India’s transportation network. Installing EV chargers at these locations removes one of the biggest hurdles to EV adoption—charging convenience. Our collaboration with AAI is a strong step toward a smarter, cleaner mobility future.”
