Switch Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland and part of the Hinduja Group, has launched two new electric city buses: the Switch EiV12, designed for Indian urban transport, and the Switch E1, developed for European cities. These buses represent a major step toward sustainable urban mobility.

Switch EiV12: Designed for India
The EiV12 is India’s first low-floor electric city bus with advanced features for urban commuting.

  • Battery Capacity: Scalable chassis-mounted batteries exceeding 400 kWh for extended range.
  • Passenger Capacity: Accommodates up to 39 passengers, with dedicated spaces for differently-abled individuals.
  • Accessibility Features: Includes low-floor entry, an automated wheelchair ramp, and a kneeling mechanism for easy boarding.
  • Safety Enhancements: Equipped with five CCTV cameras, dedicated seating for women, and enhanced visibility through panoramic windows.
  • Advanced Technology: Features the Switch iON telematics system for real-time vehicle health monitoring and fleet management.

The EiV12 has already received 1,800 orders, highlighting the demand for eco-friendly public transport.

Switch E1: Tailored for Europe
The E1 is a lightweight electric city bus engineered for European urban transit systems.

  • High Passenger Capacity: Can accommodate up to 93 passengers, including standees.
  • Modern Design: Offers a flat gangway layout and a triple-door configuration for efficient boarding and alighting.
  • Technology: Incorporates in-wheel motors and a monocoque structure for improved energy efficiency and performance.
