Comprehensive platform rollout spans diesel and EV powertrains

Tata Motors has unveiled 17 new commercial trucks across the 7-55 tonnes segment, marking a major portfolio refresh that incorporates both traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models and expanded electric vehicle (EV) offerings. The launch signifies Tata Motors’ commitment to serving diverse fleet applications from light-to-medium commercial duties to heavy regional hauls while meeting evolving customer expectations for performance, safety and sustainability. The new lineup spans key truck families including the Azura series, Prima, Signa and Ultra platforms.

The Azura series targets the 7–19 tonnes category with a new 3.6-litre diesel engine tuned for higher efficiency and stronger payload capacity. Across the overall range, Tata has upgraded cabins to comply with ECE R29-03 (Euro crash) safety norms, incorporating up to 23 India-specific active safety features such as adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning systems to improve driver protection and reduce incident risk.

Fuel efficiency, payload gains and operational technology

Beyond safety, the portfolio delivers up to 7 % better fuel efficiency and an increase in payload capacity of up to 1.8 tonnes in select models essential factors in lowering total cost of ownership for logistics operators. Tata Motors has also expanded its suite of connected fleet tools, enhancing uptime and asset utilisation. Digital telematics aid operators with predictive maintenance alerts, real-time vehicle health diagnostics and optimisation analytics designed to minimise downtime and operating costs.

Electric truck expansion with I-MOEV architecture

Under the Tata Trucks.ev brand, the company has introduced an extensive electric truck range built on the Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle (I-MOEV) architecture. This includes models such as the Ultra EV range for urban and regional distribution, the Prima E.55S prime mover for heavy-duty long-haul segments, and the Prima E.28K electric tipper tailored for mining and construction. By aligning ICE and EV options across the same 7–55 tonnes bandwidth, Tata offers flexibility for fleet transition strategies while supporting broader electrification goals within commercial transport.
