Tata Electronics has announced seven Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at Semicon India 2026, strengthening its plans to build an integrated semiconductor ecosystem in India. Five detailed partnerships with Nexperia, Fujifilm, Besi, Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL) and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya span manufacturing, materials, advanced packaging, supply-chain localisation and talent development.
Nexperia Partnership Covers Manufacturing And Testing
Tata Electronics and Nexperia will collaborate across the semiconductor value chain, including front-end fabrication and back-end assembly and testing.
- Nexperia MOSFETs are planned for production at Tata Electronics’ 300mm Dholera Fab.
- Discrete semiconductor products will be assembled and tested at the Jagiroad facility in Assam.
- The companies will also explore technology development and ecosystem-building initiatives.
The Dholera Fab is being developed with a planned investment of ₹91,000 crore and will target 28nm to 110nm technology nodes.
Fujifilm Plans ₹800 Crore Materials Investment
Tata Electronics and Fujifilm will work to localise critical semiconductor materials. Fujifilm plans to invest approximately ₹800 crore in phases to establish a semiconductor materials plant in the Dholera Special Investment Region.
The partnership will also support Indian chemical manufacturers with technology, quality assurance and high-purity chemical production expertise.
Besi To Support Advanced Packaging
The MoU with Dutch equipment supplier Besi focuses on strengthening advanced packaging capabilities at Tata Electronics’ Jagiroad facility.
Key areas include:
- Advanced packaging equipment readiness
- Technical collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Engineering capability development
- Employee training and certification
SCL, Gati Shakti University To Drive Indigenisation And Skills
Tata Electronics and SCL will explore chip design, process technologies, supply-chain localisation and talent development, including applications in aerospace, defence and strategic technologies.
Meanwhile, the partnership with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, supported by L&T EduTech and Jacobs Solutions, will develop industry-oriented programmes covering facility engineering, project management, logistics and semiconductor operations.
Together, the agreements mark a broad push by Tata Electronics to strengthen India’s semiconductor manufacturing, materials, packaging and skilled workforce capabilities.
