JK Tyre Launches India’s First Sustainable Passenger Car Tyre with ISCC Plus Certification

Greaves Electric Mobility

May 2025

In a pioneering move for India’s tyre and green mobility sectors, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. has begun commercial production of the UX Royale Green, the country’s first passenger car tyre made with ISCC Plus certified sustainable materials. Manufactured at the company’s Chennai facility, this milestone highlights JK Tyre’s commitment to advancing clean technology and driving sustainability-led innovation in the automotive sector.

The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Plus is a globally recognized framework that verifies the use of renewable and recycled materials with full supply chain traceability. The UX Royale Green incorporates up to 80% sustainable inputs, including bio-attributed polymers, renewable oils, recycled rubber powder, recovered carbon black, recycled polyester, and steel wire—all sourced through environmentally responsible and circular practices.

The launch is the result of over a decade of R&D by JK Tyre’s Global Tech Centre, which has focused on developing alternatives to petroleum-based raw materials without compromising on quality, safety, or performance. Originally developed in August 2023, the UX Royale Green has undergone extensive testing and evaluation, reflecting JK Tyre’s dedication to performance excellence and eco-responsibility.

“This marks a defining step in our journey toward sustainable innovation,” said Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director of JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. “By introducing India’s first ISCC Plus certified passenger car tyre, we are reinforcing our commitment to green mobility, circular economy principles, and a cleaner future for the tyre industry. At the same time, quality and safety remain core to everything we do.”

JK Tyre has long been a pioneer in quality standards and innovation. In 1995, it became the first tyre manufacturer in the world to earn ISO 9001 certification across its entire operations. This legacy continues with the UX Royale Green, which reflects the company’s ability to lead on both technology and sustainability fronts.

This development arrives at a time when India’s mobility and manufacturing sectors are under growing pressure to align with global emissions targets and adopt environmentally responsible practices. The introduction of sustainable tyres is not just a product innovation but a strategic alignment with India’s broader clean energy goals and the global push toward low-impact transportation.

By rolling out the UX Royale Green, JK Tyre positions itself as a key contributor to India’s green industrial transformation and strengthens its standing as a leader in sustainable tyre technology on the global stage.
