₹200 Crore investment expands precision die casting capacity
Jaya Hind Industries has initiated a ₹200 crore expansion of its aluminium die-casting facility in Kottaiyur Village, Thiruvallur District, Chennai, marking a significant scaling of its manufacturing capacity. The ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion reflects JHI’s commitment to advanced manufacturing and vertical integration in India’s automotive component sector.
The project will bring in high-pressure die casting (HPDC) machines ranging from 1,400 to 4,400 tonnes, enabling production of a wide spectrum of components from conventional ICE parts to electric vehicle modules and large structural castings. A new manufacturing shed of nearly 13,000 square metres will house state-of-the-art die-casting and expanded machining operations, enhancing overall industrial throughput.
Fully vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities
The expanded plant is being developed as a fully vertically integrated facility, combining die casting with advanced downstream operations including machining, powder coating, heat treatment, honing, and impregnation. This strategy strengthens quality control, reduces dependency on external suppliers, and improves lead times across the value chain — critical in both domestic and export markets.
Upon completion, the Chennai unit is expected to achieve an installed capacity of approximately 20,000 tonnes per year, supporting a diversified customer base. Key clients include Cummins and Generac in the United States, TVS Motor Company in India’s super-premium two-wheeler segment, and emerging electric vehicle module manufacturers, indicating the facility’s strategic relevance across mobility sectors. Supporting India’s automotive and EV manufacturing growth
The expansion aligns with the Make in India initiative and broader efforts to localise sophisticated automotive component manufacturing. As global OEMs and EV players increase localisation efforts, facilities such as JHI’s expanded Chennai plant help reduce import dependence for high-value die-cast components and improve responsiveness to OEM quality standards.
With a legacy dating back to 1947 and a strong presence across Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh, Jaya Hind Industries continues to deepen its manufacturing footprint while supporting India’s transition to high-precision, future-ready mobility solutions.
