Bharat Maha EV Rally flagged off for Haryana after 98 days on road

Greaves Electric Mobility

World’s longest EV rally reaches Chandigarh milestone

The Bharat Maha EV Rally, recognised as the world’s longest electric vehicle rally, entered Chandigarh on its 98th day and was flagged off for Haryana from Lok Bhawan by Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria. The rally represents one of India’s most extensive on-ground EV awareness initiatives, covering long-distance routes across varied geographies.

Rally spans 27 states, 8 UTs and international routes

So far, the rally has travelled through 27 states and eight Union Territories, including key regions such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir. It has also crossed international borders, visiting Bhutan and Nepal, demonstrating the feasibility of electric mobility beyond domestic highway networks. The journey highlights EV endurance, charging adaptability and operational reliability over extended distances.

IFEVA leads EV awareness and myth-busting mission

The rally is led by the International Federation of Electric Vehicle Associations (IFEVA), under the guidance of its president Dr Rajeev Mishra. During the Chandigarh stop, the Governor held detailed discussions with the IFEVA leadership on the rally’s learnings over the past 97 days. The focus remains on dispelling myths around EV range, charging access and long-distance usability.

Backed by national clean mobility leadership

The Bharat Maha EV Rally is organised at the behest of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal. The initiative aligns with India’s broader push toward clean mobility, reduced oil dependence and lower transport emissions, while engaging citizens directly through visible, real-world EV demonstrations.
