Ather Rolls Out 5,00,000th Electric Scooter from Hosur
Ather Energy Limited, one of India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers, has
announced a landmark achievement — the production of its 5,00,000th scooter at its
Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu. The milestone unit was the Ather Rizta, a
family-oriented e-scooter that has quickly become central to Ather’s growth strategy.
Co-founder and CTO Swapnil Jain emphasized that the milestone reflects Ather’s
long-term investment in scalable manufacturing, rigorous testing, and a deep
commitment to quality. Over the years, the company has built a reputation for precision
engineering and reliability, supported by strong customer trust and after-sales
engagement.
Rizta Powers Ather’s Next Growth Phase
Since its launch last year, the Rizta has accounted for more than one-third of Ather’s
total production. Its success has accelerated the company’s expansion beyond metro
cities into North and Central India, targeting tier-2 and tier-3 markets. The model’s
focus on practicality, comfort, and family usability has helped Ather capture a new
demographic of EV buyers.
Factory 3.0 to Boost Capacity and Innovation
Ather operates two facilities in Hosur for vehicle assembly and battery manufacturing,
with a combined annual capacity of 4,20,000 units. To meet surging demand, the
company is developing Factory 3.0 in Bidkin, AURIC (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar,
Maharashtra). Built on Industry 4.0 principles, the new facility will integrate digital and
automated processes across production.
Once both phases of Factory 3.0 are operational, Ather’s total installed capacity will rise
to 1.42 million electric two-wheelers per year, marking one of the largest dedicated
EV manufacturing footprints in India.
