Leadership Boost for India’s Automotive Skilling Ecosystem
The Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) has announced two key leadership appointments to reinforce its national skilling mandate. Vinnie Mehta has been appointed as Vice Chairperson, while Vikram Natrajan has taken over as Treasurer. Both leaders bring substantial industry experience and are expected to strengthen ASDC’s capability to develop talent for India’s rapidly evolving automotive and electric mobility sectors.
Focus on Scaling Industry-Relevant Skill Programs
ASDC stated that the new leadership team will focus on expanding industry-aligned skilling programs, improving training infrastructure, and supporting the adoption of advanced technologies across the automotive value chain. With the sector undergoing a deep technological shift driven by EVs, digitalisation, automation, and connected systems the council aims to equip the workforce with the capabilities required for future mobility. The expanded leadership will also work closely with OEMs, suppliers, training partners, and government bodies to improve training outcomes.
Strengthening EV and New Mobility Competencies
As India accelerates adoption of EVs and next-generation mobility solutions, demand for skilled technicians, battery specialists, and diagnostics professionals continues to rise. ASDC’s enhanced leadership structure is expected to speed up the rollout of specialised EV skilling modules, competency-based assessments, and certification frameworks. The council is also focusing on upskilling existing workforce segments to meet new industry requirements in manufacturing, after-sales, and digital automotive ecosystems.
