The Hinduja Group has announced a Rs 2,500 crore investment in Tamil Nadu to accelerate electric mobility, charging infrastructure and clean energy development across the state. The investment is expected to strengthen the group’s presence in the rapidly growing EV ecosystem.

Electric Buses and Charging Infrastructure at the Core

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Guidance Tamil Nadu, Hinduja Group’s e-mobility arm OHM Global Mobility will operationalize electric buses for public transport.

The investment will also support:

  • Expansion of EV battery charging networks
  • Digital mobility and fleet solutions
  • Automotive engineering capabilities
  • Electric public transport deployment

The initiative is aimed at building a more integrated and sustainable mobility ecosystem in Tamil Nadu.

Hinduja Renewables to Develop 200 MW Clean Energy Capacity

Supporting the group’s EV ambitions, Hinduja Renewables plans to develop more than 200 MW of renewable energy and battery storage capacity.

The projects will span key districts, including:

  • Tirunelveli
  • Thoothukudi
  • Virudhunagar
  • Madurai
  • Coimbatore

The clean energy capacity is expected to help power the group’s expanding electric mobility operations while supporting Tamil Nadu’s broader transition towards sustainable transportation.

Strengthening Tamil Nadu’s EV Manufacturing Base

The latest investment builds on Hinduja Group’s established automotive footprint in the state. Its presence includes Ashok Leyland, Switch Mobility and Hinduja Tech, covering commercial vehicles, electric buses and engineering services.

The announcement follows a Rs 7,500 crore agreement signed in September 2025 for EV ecosystem investments. Ashok Leyland is also developing a Rs 500 crore battery pack assembly plant in Pillaipakkam.
