Greaves Electric Mobility

Strong early sales performance

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has reported cumulative sales of over 1,000 electric vehicles in India, just four months after entering the market. In the last quarter of 2025, the company sold around 830 units, with more than 200 units sold in early 2026, signaling a robust start for the brand in the Indian EV landscape. VinFast now ranks as the fourth major EV brand in India, alongside Tata Motors, MG, and Mahindra.

Model lineup and specifications

VinFast entered India with the launch of two midsize electric SUVs the VF 6 and VF 7 in September 2025.

  • VF 6: Equipped with a single electric motor producing 201 BHP and 310 Nm, powered by a 59.6 kWh battery, delivering a range of 480 km.
  • VF 7: Offers single- and dual-motor configurations, with 59.6 kWh and 70.8 kWh battery options, also capable of covering up to 480 km per charge.

Both models aim to cater to different consumer segments, balancing performance, range, and versatility for Indian driving conditions.

Manufacturing and scalability

VinFast vehicles are assembled in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, at a plant with an annual capacity of 50,000 units, scalable to 150,000 units. The facility positions VinFast to ramp up production in line with growing EV demand in India and underscores the company’s commitment to local manufacturing and employment generation.

The early sales success highlights growing consumer acceptance for new EV brands, especially those offering long-range, well-equipped vehicles with competitive pricing. VinFast’s strategy combines localized production, robust battery performance, and attractive model options to capture market share in India’s fast-growing EV sector.
