Budget-friendly EV SUV enters the Indian market
Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced the XEV 9S, its first three-row electric SUV, with a starting price of ₹19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Built on Mahindra’s dedicated INGLO platform also under the XEV 9e and BE 6 the XEV 9S aims to make electric SUVs affordable and accessible to middle-class Indian families.
The launch marks a significant push to expand EV adoption beyond small cars, addressing demand among buyers seeking space, practicality and EV efficiency.
Variants, Battery Options, and Performance Highlights
XEV 9S comes in multiple battery variants: 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. Pricing varies across trims and battery packs, with top variants positioned around ₹29.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
The SUV supports DC fast charging up to 175 kW, enabling faster recharge cycles. Performance and driving dynamics have been designed to match SUV expectations, leveraging the platform’s electric-first architecture.
Spacious Cabin and Premium Features for Family Use
With a 2,762 mm wheelbase and EV-specific flat-floor layout, the XEV 9S maximises interior space and comfort across three rows. The SUV offers generous boot space and a frunk, and features a full-length panoramic sunroof, triple-screen dashboard layout, advanced infotainment and safety offerings including ADAS.
Mahindra aims to deliver SUV-level practicality along with EV advantages lower running cost, zero tailpipe emissions and future-ready positioning.
