Marking a significant acceleration of its India strategy, American EV giant Tesla inaugurated its first showroom in the National Capital Region (NCR) at Delhi’s Aerocity on Monday, August 11, 2025. This is the company’s second retail outlet in India, following its debut in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) just a month prior. Located in the Worldmark 3 project, the 8,200 sq ft showroom has been leased for nine years, signaling a long-term commitment to the region.
Model Y Takes Center Stage as Deliveries Loom
The new showroom prominently features the Model Y, the vehicle leading Tesla’s entry into the Indian market. The electric SUV is available in two variants: a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) with a 60kWh battery, priced at ₹59.89 lakh, and a Long Range RWD with a 75kWh battery, priced at ₹67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The company announced that deliveries for these models will commence in September 2025, with initial rollouts planned for Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Bookings are now open through the official website and at the showrooms.
Building a Robust Sales and Service Ecosystem
Tesla’s expansion in the NCR is not limited to the Aerocity showroom. The company has also secured a large 33,475 sq ft space in Gurugram’s Orchid Business Park, which is slated to become a sales and service center. This physical expansion is complemented by a growing charging infrastructure. After launching its first Supercharger station in Mumbai’s BKC, Tesla announced plans for additional stations in Lower Parel, Navi Mumbai, and Thane, solidifying its support network for new owners.
Bengaluru Next on the Radar as India Strategy Unfolds
Looking ahead, Tesla has confirmed that Bengaluru is next in line for a showroom, with a company official stating they “cannot miss Bangalore very soon”. This southern push is part of a broader, committed plan for India that includes launching mobile service, remote diagnostics, and approved collision centers. By establishing a strong presence in India’s key metropolitan areas, Tesla is laying the groundwork for a comprehensive sales, service, and charging ecosystem to support its growth in the country.
