Scaling Up: Retail Expansion and Manufacturing Ramp
Bengaluru-based Oben Electric, a rising name in India’s EV motorcycle sector, has closed an extended Series A round with an additional ₹50 crore fundraise in May 2025, taking the total Series A tally to ₹100 crore and overall capital raised to ₹200 crore. The latest infusion, backed by both existing and new investors such as Helios Holdings, the Sharda Family Office, and the Kay Family, will fuel a major nationwide expansion. The company plans to launch over 150 showrooms across more than 50 cities by FY26 and scale up production at its Bengaluru facility to meet surging demand—following an impressive post-funding rollout of 37 outlets in just 26 cities across 13 states.
Product Innovation: The O100 Platform for Mass Market EVs
A key focus of the new funding is on advancing Oben’s upcoming ‘O100’ platform, set to launch in the second half of 2025. Engineered in-house, O100 is a strategic move to target India’s massive 100cc commuter segment with affordable electric motorcycles priced under ₹1 lakh. The platform’s modular design allows for multiple model variants and battery sizes, all powered by Oben’s proprietary LFP battery technology, ensuring a balance of performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Founder & CEO Madhumita Agrawal emphasises that O100 is about “making electric mobility accessible to the masses” and positioning Oben to become a strong contender in entry-level motorcycle markets.
Vertical Integration and After-Sales Strength
Oben Electric’s vertical integration—designing and manufacturing its own battery packs, motors, and vehicle control units—is emerging as a major differentiator. This approach is credited for swift, post-funding growth and has earned investor praise for supporting quality, agility, and supply chain resilience. The latest capital will also go towards strengthening the company’s after-sales service infrastructure, creating a robust support network to match its expanding showroom footprint and raising the bar for customer experience.
Looking Ahead: Global Aspirations and Series B on the Horizon
With the domestic foundation strengthening, Oben has set its sights on international expansion. The company plans to raise $30 million in a Series B round later in 2025 to fund overseas pushes and broaden its product lineup even further. Meanwhile, popular models like the Rorr and Rorr EZ remain firm favorites among urban commuters, with the Rorr EZ delivering a competitive range, strong acceleration, and robust LFP battery tech—all at a starting price of ₹99,999. By betting big on innovation, affordability, and scale, Oben Electric is steadily executing its mission to be a global electric motorcycle brand “Designed in India for the World”.
