Tata Motors Sets New Safety Benchmark with 5-Star Bharat NCAP Ratings Across Seven Models

Mumbai, April 23, 2025 – Reinforcing its leadership in vehicle safety and clean mobility, Tata Motors has achieved a landmark milestone with seven of its passenger vehicles receiving the prestigious 5-star safety rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). This comprehensive rating highlights the automaker’s strong commitment to developing vehicles that offer not only sustainability but also top-tier occupant protection.

Among the models that received the 5-star rating are the Curvv (EV and ICE variants), Nexon (EV and ICE), Punch EV, Safari, and Harrier. The achievement spans both electric and internal combustion engine vehicles, signaling Tata’s all-round commitment to building safety-first platforms across technologies.

The new rating system by Bharat NCAP evaluates vehicles on multiple safety parameters, including frontal and side impact performance, as well as child occupant protection. Tata’s vehicles excelled across the board, with some achieving near-perfect scores.

The Punch EV, in particular, impressed with a score of 31.46 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child protection. Meanwhile, the Curvv EV secured 30.81 for adult and 44.83 for child protection, while the Nexon EV Long Range variant received 29.86 and 44.95, respectively. These high scores make Tata’s EV lineup not only sustainable but also among the safest in the country.

The ICE versions of the Nexon and Curvv also performed exceptionally well, scoring over 29 points for adult protection and above 43 points for child safety, placing them among the top contenders in their segments.

The Safari and Harrier, Tata’s flagship SUVs, were awarded 30.08 out of 32 for adult protection and 44.54 out of 49 for child safety, reinforcing their reputation as robust family-friendly vehicles.

Tata Motors continues to be a trailblazer in integrating advanced safety features with eco-conscious mobility. With growing awareness among Indian consumers around vehicle safety and environmental impact, these results are expected to further boost consumer confidence in Tata’s product line.

Speaking on the achievement, a senior Tata Motors official remarked that these ratings reflect the company’s ongoing investments in safer, smarter vehicle platforms. With Bharat NCAP setting new benchmarks in India’s automotive safety landscape, Tata’s performance puts it at the forefront of this critical industry transformation.

As the nation shifts toward zero-emission mobility, Tata Motors’ consistent focus on safety, sustainability, and technology ensures its continued leadership in shaping the future of transport in India.
