Montra Electric Expands Its Clean-Mobility Portfolio With the E-27
Montra Electric has announced its entry into the northern Indian markets with the launch of the Montra Electric E-27, the country’s first ARAI-certified electric tractor. Revealed at the 9th edition of EIMA Agrimach India 2025, the tractor marks a major shift toward cleaner and more efficient agricultural mechanization. Designed for modern Indian farming needs, the E-27 delivers 27 HP equivalent power and 90 Nm torque through a high-efficiency PMSM motor, supporting operations such as tilling, plowing, spraying, and haulage.
Performance, Battery Technology, and Safety Features
The E-27 offers both 2WD and 4WD drivetrain options, providing adaptability across different soil and terrain conditions. It is powered by a 22.37 kWh LFP prismatic battery pack that delivers approximately 4.5 hours of field runtime and recharges in 2.15 hours. With its ARAI certification, the tractor meets stringent national standards for safety and reliability. Key capabilities include an 8F+2R side-shift transmission, dual-speed PTO (540 and 1000 rpm), and a 720 kg hydraulic lifting capacity, enabling diesel-like performance without emissions.
Economic Benefits and Farmer-Centric Advantages
One of the E-27’s strongest value propositions is its ability to reduce operating costs by up to 70% due to the elimination of diesel and lower maintenance needs. Over a five-year period, farmers can save nearly ₹10 lakh compared to conventional diesel tractors. The quiet operation and reduced vibration levels also improve operator comfort and contribute to long-term health benefits for India’s agricultural workforce.
Market Availability and Montra Electric’s Vision
The Montra Electric E-27 is now available for purchase through 17 dealerships across 10 states, with prices starting at ₹10.75 lakh (ex-showroom). According to Harish Prasad, CEO of Montra Electric Tractors, the expansion into northern markets is a key milestone in aligning India’s agricultural sector with clean mobility goals. By introducing zero-emission technology in farming, the company aims to support India’s environmental and economic priorities while enhancing productivity.
