MATTER Motor Works has raised $25 million (₹240 crore) in growth capital, with existing investors doubling down on the Ahmedabad-based electric motorcycle manufacturer. The funding comes as customer waitlists for its AERA electric motorcycle continue to grow.

Funding to Accelerate Manufacturing and Expansion

Over the next 12 months, MATTER plans to deploy the capital across three key areas:

  • Manufacturing and supply-chain expansion to meet rising demand
  • Distribution and brand-building across multiple markets
  • Product development, with four new electric motorcycles planned

The company expects these new models to arrive over the next 12–24 months, expanding the AERA platform into new variants and rider segments.

₹1,000 Crore Raised Since Inception

The latest round takes MATTER’s total capital raised to approximately ₹1,000 crore. More than ₹750 crore has already been invested in manufacturing, research and development, and market entry.

Existing investors include Helena, Capital 2B, Japan Airlines & Translink Innovation Fund, and Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC).

111 Patents Power MATTER’s Technology

MATTER develops its core technology in-house, including its powertrain, battery systems, control electronics and software. Its technology portfolio is protected by 111 granted patents.

Key AERA technologies include:

  • 4-speed HyperShift™ manual transmission
  • Liquid-cooled battery and motor
  • 172 km certified range
  • Onboard charging from a standard 5-amp socket
  • 7-inch connected touchscreen

Four New Motorcycles in the Pipeline

MATTER says the upcoming motorcycles will use the same in-house powertrain, battery and software architecture while incorporating learnings from real-world usage.

With manufacturing scale-up and an expanded product roadmap, MATTER aims to strengthen its position in India’s rapidly growing electric motorcycle market.
