LeafyBus Secures $4.1 Million Funding from Enetra India for Intercity E-Mobility Expansion

Greaves Electric Mobility

New Delhi – LeafyBus, a pioneering intercity electric bus operator based in New Delhi, has successfully raised $4.1 million from Enetra India, with strategic support from Singapore-based Impact Capital Asia Management (ICAM). This significant investment announcement on September 6, 2025, marks a pivotal moment in India’s intercity electric mobility sector, positioning LeafyBus to transform long-distance travel through sustainable transportation solutions.

Strategic Expansion Through Advanced Infrastructure

LeafyBus has demonstrated remarkable operational efficiency through its innovative approach to intercity electric transportation. The company currently operates 10 electric buses on the Delhi-Dehradun route, supported by what it claims is India’s first 360 kW fast-charging station. This infrastructure enables the completion of three daily trips covering 900 kilometers in 24 hours, showcasing the viability of electric buses for long-distance intercity travel.

The funding will facilitate an ambitious expansion plan to scale the fleet from 10 to over 100 electric buses within two years. The expansion strategy focuses on high-demand corridors across North, East, and South India, with planned routes including Agra, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Patna. This geographic diversification reflects a data-driven approach based on passenger demand analysis, operational feasibility studies, and charging infrastructure availability assessments.

Technology-Driven Operational Excellence

The investment will significantly enhance LeafyBus’s technological capabilities, particularly in trip planning algorithms, dynamic bus allocation systems, and real-time fleet monitoring infrastructure. Animesh Sharma, Co-Founder of LeafyBus, emphasized the challenges inherent in expanding electric bus services on intercity routes, noting the complexities of route planning, charging infrastructure management, fleet reliability maintenance, and passenger trust building.

The funding will enable the implementation of advanced predictive maintenance systems, improved passenger communication platforms, and sophisticated fleet management technologies. These technological enhancements are crucial for addressing the operational challenges of intercity electric bus services, where reliability and passenger experience directly impact market adoption and business sustainability.

Investor Confidence in Sustainable Transport Solutions

The investment from Enetra India, supported by ICAM, reflects growing investor confidence in India’s electric mobility transition. Neeraj Gupta, Founder and Managing Director of Enetra India, highlighted the essential role of electric mobility in reducing the environmental impact of India’s transport sector, particularly noting LeafyBus’s execution capabilities and passenger experience focus.

ICAM’s involvement brings international expertise in sustainable infrastructure investments to the partnership. Founded in 2020, the Singapore-based fund’s focus on sustainable infrastructure aligns with LeafyBus’s mission to build scalable and sustainable transport solutions for India’s growing demand for clean and efficient intercity travel.
