Kerala is set to establish its first dedicated EV Research and Industrial Park in Vilappilsala, near Thiruvananthapuram. Spearheaded by the Trivandrum Engineering Science and Technology Research Park (TrEST), this initiative aims to transform the state into a hub for electric vehicle innovation.
Project Highlights
- Land Allocation: Spread across 23 acres, the park will focus on EV R&D, prototyping, and manufacturing.
- Strategic Location: Located close to Kerala Technology University, Vizhinjam Port, and Outer Ring Road, ensuring logistical efficiency.
- Timeline: Expected to be operational by December 2025, using a hub-and-spoke model for development.
Significance for Kerala
IB Satheesh, MLA of Kattakada, stated that the project will bring significant investments and create skilled jobs, accelerating Kerala’s push toward sustainability and green mobility.
