Pioneering Partnership for Affordable Electric Mobility
Indofast Energy—a joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation and Sun Mobility—has partnered with Motovolt Mobility to launch a battery-swappable version of Motovolt’s MVS7 electric scooter. This collaboration is set to make electric vehicles more accessible by leveraging the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, directly addressing the twin challenges of high upfront costs and limited charging infrastructure in India.
Motovolt MVS7: Versatile, Powerful, and Utility-Focused
The Motovolt MVS7 stands out as a multi-utility electric scooter designed for both personal and commercial use. Key features include:
- Top speed: 50 km/h
- Range: 80–85 km per charge
- Motor: 2.5 kW peak power, 120 Nm torque
- Storage: 150 liters
- Payload: 150 kg
- Five riding modes for various applications
Battery-as-a-Service: Lowering Barriers for EV Buyers
Through Indofast’s BaaS model, customers can purchase the MVS7 without the battery cost, significantly reducing the initial investment. Instead, users subscribe to battery services and conveniently swap depleted batteries at Indofast’s network of 900+ stations across 23 cities—eliminating long charging times and range anxiety.
Ambitious Sales and Expansion Plans
The partnership targets sales of 20,000 MVS7 units in the B2B segment and 5,000 units for consumers over the next year. Motovolt is expanding its dealership footprint in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai to support this growth.
Driving Sustainable Mobility
Since its founding in 2019, Motovolt has delivered over 32,000 vehicles, collectively saving 1.7 million liters of fuel and reducing carbon emissions by 3.71 million kilograms. The battery-swapping approach not only minimizes vehicle downtime but also accelerates EV adoption by making electric mobility more practical and affordable for Indian consumers and businesses alike.
