Ather Energy has received approval to list its electric scooters on the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) portal, allowing eligible Armed Forces personnel and veterans to purchase select models through the defence procurement channel from September 2026.

Eight Ather Variants to Enter CSD Channel

The approval covers eight variants from Ather’s 450 performance range and Rizta family. The limited-edition Ather 450 Apex, however, will not be included in the CSD listing.

Key details include:

  • Eight variants across the 450 and Rizta lineups
  • Sales through the CSD portal from September 2026
  • Eligibility for Armed Forces personnel and veterans
  • Manufacturer-backed discounts in addition to applicable CSD GST concessions
  • Ather 450 Apex excluded from the programme

Expanding EV Access for Defence Personnel

Ather becomes one of the first two electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India to receive approval for sales through the CSD platform. The move gives the company access to a well-established purchasing channel used by defence personnel and their families.

According to Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, the CSD listing will improve EV availability for Armed Forces personnel and their families while supporting wider electric mobility adoption.

Ather Strengthens Its Reach

The CSD approval comes as Ather continues expanding its presence in India’s electric two-wheeler market. By combining established CSD distribution with purchase benefits, the company aims to make its scooters more accessible to eligible customers.

The inclusion of both performance-oriented 450 models and the family-focused Rizta also gives defence customers a broader choice across different usage requirements.
