Ola Electric reduces flagship motorcycle price
Ola Electric has reduced the price of its Ola Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh by ₹60,000. The motorcycle now costs ₹1,29,999, down from ₹1,89,999.
This price reduction became possible due to improved production efficiency of the 4680 Bharat Cell, developed and manufactured locally in India. The company stated that scaling production has significantly reduced manufacturing costs.
Local battery production drives cost efficiency
The company’s Gigafactory expansion has allowed large-scale production of battery cells. With growing volumes, costs have reduced due to economies of scale.
Ola Electric plans to expand battery manufacturing capacity to 6 GWh, strengthening domestic supply chains. This also reduces dependency on imported battery components.
Limited purchase window strategy introduced
Along with the price cut, Ola Electric has introduced a limited purchase window model. Instead of open sales, motorcycles will be available in time-bound slots.
The first purchase window began on April 3 between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, with additional windows planned based on production availability.
Strong demand supports EV growth
The Roadster X+ has witnessed strong demand in recent months. The company recorded over 150% month-on-month growth in registrations, indicating rising interest in electric motorcycles.
Lower prices combined with improved supply capacity may further boost EV adoption in India’s two-wheeler segment.
