Zingbus Expands Electric Bus Fleet Through Operator Partnership Model

Greaves Electric Mobility

Zingbus, one of India’s leading intercity smart mobility platforms, is accelerating its electric vehicle (EV) vision through a unique operator-led deployment strategy. Instead of owning and operating buses itself, the company is empowering regional operators with technology, data intelligence and an EV-ready operating system—drastically lowering the barrier to electric fleet adoption.

A Shift Away from the Traditional COCO Model

Zingbus has moved beyond the conventional Company-Owned, Company-Operated (COCO) approach.
Instead, it equips independent bus operators with:

  • Revenue management tools tailored for electric fleets
  • A proprietary technology stack for easier EV operations
  • Support to adopt EVs without heavy upfront investments

With more than 250 operators already integrated, the model is helping them transition into the EV ecosystem sustainably and profitably.

Higher Passenger Preference for EV Coaches

Performance data shows that electric buses operating on the Zingbus platform achieve:

  • Higher occupancy rates
  • Stronger Net Promoter Scores (NPS)
Compared to diesel buses on identical routes.
This reflects a growing customer preference for smoother, quieter, environmentally friendly long-distance travel.

Target: 1,000+ Electric Buses and Major Emission Reduction

Co-founder Prashant Kumar emphasized that partners are “excited to go electric,” and the company’s EV-focused operating system is enabling a “new growth curve” for India’s intercity travel sector.

Zingbus aims to deploy over 1,000 electric buses, potentially neutralizing 36,000 tons of annual carbon emissions. The platform already operates across 200+ cities, has supported 6 million+ journeys, and collaborates with nearly 300 buses via its partner network.
