Tamil Nadu Unveils 12 GW Renewables Plan for SA-REC

Greaves Electric Mobility

Tamil Nadu unveiled a 12 GW wind-solar expansion within the South Asian Renewable Energy Corridor to fortify grid supply, decarbonize industry, and build a platform for future green molecules. The plan leverages the state’s wind leadership with rapid solar additions to deliver a resilient, cost-competitive power mix.

Execution priorities include expedited project timelines, transmission augmentation, and investor-friendly policies that crowd in private capital while maintaining reliability and affordability. Corridor-led planning aims to improve balancing and utilization to meet rising industrial demand.

The program targets growth from data centers, automotive clusters, and diversified manufacturing, with anticipated supply-chain benefits across EPC, O&M, and component manufacturing. Over time, the buildout is expected to support round-the-clock strategies and export-oriented clean energy.

By aligning grid readiness, finance, and industrial demand, the state positions itself as a regional hub in the corridor, accelerating both immediate clean power delivery and longer-term hydrogen and ammonia pathways.
