India’s commercial mobility sector is set for a cleaner transformation as Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has signed an MoU with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV). The collaboration will accelerate the adoption of electric trucks and buses, beginning with charging support for the newly launched Eicher Pro X range of small commercial vehicles.
Comprehensive Charging Support for Fleet Operators
Under the partnership:
- Tata Power will provide charging infrastructure and customised charging solutions.
- VECV will leverage its expertise in energy efficiency to enhance performance.
- Both companies will jointly engage with Eicher Trucks and Buses customers, helping fleet operators transition smoothly to electric vehicles.
This collaboration directly addresses key challenges such as range anxiety, charging availability, and operational costs, which have often slowed commercial EV adoption.
Tata Power’s Nationwide EV Charging Network
Tata Power brings its EZ Charge network, comprising:
- Over 1.5 lakh home chargers.
- 5,500 public, semi-public, and fleet charging points.
- Around 1,200 charging points dedicated to electric buses.
This extensive network will provide confidence and reliability for Eicher EV users across India.
A Strategic Push for Green Commercial Transport
VE Commercial Vehicles, a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, has been manufacturing and selling trucks and buses since 2008, with a presence in 40 countries. The partnership with Tata Power is expected to expand to other upcoming Eicher electric models, creating a long-term roadmap for zero-emission logistics and passenger mobility.
With Tata Power Renewable Energy’s 10.9 GW renewable portfolio and VECV’s legacy in commercial transport, this partnership represents a pivotal moment in India’s journey toward sustainable and modern commercial mobility.
