PMI Electro Mobility, in partnership with Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), is set to deliver 250 state-of-the-art electric buses to Mumbai. This initiative is a significant step towards modernizing the city’s public transportation system and achieving sustainability goals. The electric buses, designed for comfort, efficiency, and eco-friendliness, will begin operations by the second quarter of FY26.
Transforming Mumbai’s Public Transport
The electric buses will operate across high-demand routes in Mumbai and its suburbs. With their air-conditioned interiors and focus on commuter convenience, these buses aim to provide a superior travel experience. The partnership follows the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model, ensuring cost-efficiency while maintaining high service standards.
Environmental Impact
The introduction of 250 electric buses will have a profound environmental impact:
- CO2 Emission Reduction: The buses are projected to save 300,000 tons of CO2 emissions over the next 12 years.
- Fuel Savings: By eliminating the use of 125 million liters of diesel, the initiative significantly reduces reliance on fossil fuels.
These efforts align with India’s broader goals to transition to green energy solutions and combat climate change.
PMI Electro Mobility’s Expanding Reach
PMI Electro Mobility currently operates a fleet of over 1,700 electric buses across 31 cities, including Leh, Kerala, and Nagpur. Mumbai marks the company’s second major project in Maharashtra, following Nagpur, where 144 electric buses have been deployed successfully.
