AI-led inspection and quality control solutions

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has onboarded five startups from the fourth cohort of its Maruti Suzuki Incubation Program (MSIP) to develop technology solutions across key business functions. The program is operated in partnership with NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore, and all selected startups have received paid proof-of-concept engagements.

AugurAI and Aatral will deploy AI-based visual inspection systems to identify defects in automotive components and finished vehicles, improving manufacturing precision. Indus Vision will focus on quality control of completed vehicles, supporting consistency and accuracy at the final inspection stage. These initiatives aim to enhance manufacturing reliability while reducing manual intervention.

IoT-enabled workplace safety integration

Workplace safety forms another core focus of the collaboration. Proxgy will implement IoT-enabled wearables and monitoring systems to improve employee safety on the shop floor. The solution is designed to enable real-time monitoring and faster response to safety risks in high-intensity manufacturing environments.

Maruti Suzuki highlighted that intelligent technology adoption is increasingly critical as operations scale and diversify. The company operates across a wide product portfolio and exports to nearly 100 global markets, requiring tighter control over safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Electric mobility for aftermarket logistics

Zen Mobility will work with Maruti Suzuki on electric vehicle solutions for last-mile delivery of spare parts and accessories. The initiative supports the automaker’s sustainability goals while addressing emissions and efficiency challenges in aftermarket logistics.

According to Maruti Suzuki, technology integration is a strategic enabler as the company navigates evolving consumer preferences, regulatory complexity, and sustainability mandates. Since launching its innovation initiatives in 2019, the automaker has screened around 6,400 startups, engaged with over 220, and onboarded 32 as business partners across its four innovation programs.
