Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e Drive Record Sales in May 2025

Greaves Electric Mobility

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is riding high on the success of its all-electric SUVs — the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Since their launch in January 2025, these futuristic electric-origin SUVs have been steadily climbing the charts. Now, with record-breaking production and sales figures in May, Mahindra has firmly established itself as a key player in India’s electric vehicle (EV) segment.

Record Numbers in May 2025

May 2025 turned out to be a milestone month for M&M:

  • 3,692 units of the BE 6 and XEV 9e were produced at the Chakan plant.
  • 4,021 units were dispatched to dealerships across the country.
  • This takes cumulative production and sales to over 15,000 units within just five months.
  • Four units have been exported — one in March and three in May.

These are the highest monthly figures since the launch of these two EVs.

Growing Share in the SUV and EV Market

Mahindra’s momentum is reflected in its growing share of both the SUV and EV markets:

  • The BE 6 and XEV 9e account for 6% of M&M’s total SUV wholesales (15,059 out of 253,888 units between January–May 2025).
  • In CY2024, Mahindra had sold 528,460 SUVs; sales in the first five months of CY2025 already account for 48% of that total.

In the electric passenger vehicle (E-PV) space:

  • M&M sold 2,695 EVs in May, capturing a 21% share of the 12,565 E-PVs sold in India.
  • Total EV retail sales for M&M (including the XUV400) between January and May 2025 reached 9,307 units.
  • This gives the company a 15% share of India’s electric passenger vehicle market during this period.

Demand Exceeds Expectations

The electric SUV duo made waves from day one:

  • Over 30,000 bookings were recorded on the very first day.
  • Customer interest remains strong, though the actual numbers could have been even higher.
  • Limited availability of lower-priced variants has slightly capped monthly deliveries so far.

New Variants Set to Boost Sales

Mahindra is set to introduce new battery and trim combinations to cater to broader demand:

  • The 59kWh battery, currently only available in lower trims, will soon be available in the top-end ‘Pack 3’ variant.
  • The 79kWh battery, previously exclusive to the most premium trim, will be offered in the Pack 3 Select variant (second-from-base).
  • These changes will help make the product mix more balanced and accessible to a wider range of buyers.

Built for the Future

The BE 6 and XEV 9e are more than just high-performance EVs. They come equipped with:

  • In-house assembled lithium-ion phosphate battery packs
  • Top-tier crash safety ratings
  • Feature-loaded interiors with segment-leading technology
  • Sleek, futuristic design that appeals to modern consumers

Mahindra’s focus on quality, performance, and innovation is evident — and the market is responding.

What Lies Ahead

The coming months will be crucial. With new variants hitting showrooms between June and August, and rising consumer acceptance of EVs, Mahindra’s monthly numbers are expected to climb sharply. The brand is not just catching up with the market leader but is also helping drive the electrification of India’s SUV segment.
