Policy Status: Notified; Notification Date: August 17, 2022; Valid for a period of 5 years from the date of issue of relevant government resolution

Objectives of the Policy:

  • To promote sustainable mobility in Ladakh by kickstarting the sale and use of EVs
  • To encourage research, innovation, and skill development in EV technology

All e-vehicles will be exempted from payment of road taxes.

Electric Two-wheelers

  • A purchase incentive of 10% of Ex-Showroom or INR15,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR1,50,000/-
  • The early-bird incentives include a purchase incentive of 20% of Ex-Showroom or INR30,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR1,50,000/- for 28 vehicles

Electric Three-wheelers

  • A purchase incentive of 10% of Ex-Showroom or INR50,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR5,00,000/-
  • The early-bird incentives include a purchase incentive of 20% of Ex-Showroom or INR1,00,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR5,00,000/- for 10 vehicles

e-Rickshaw/e-Cart

  • A purchase incentive of 10% of Ex-Showroom or INR30,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR3,00,000/-
  • The early-bird incentives include a purchase incentive of 20% of Ex-Showroom or INR60,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR3,00,000/- for 10 vehicles

Electric Car

  • A purchase incentive of 10% of Ex-Showroom or INR2,50,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR25,00,000/-
  • The early-bird incentives include a purchase incentive of 20% of Ex-Showroom or INR5,00,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR25,00,000/- for 33 vehicles

Electric Bus

  • A purchase incentive of 25% of Ex-Showroom or INR50,00,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR2,00,00,000/-
  • The early-bird incentives include a purchase incentive of 50% of Ex-Showroom or INR1,00,00,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR2,00,00,000/- for 11 vehicles

Electric Four-wheeler (LCV/State Carriage/Maxi Cabs)

  • A purchase incentive of 10% of Ex-Showroom or INR3,00,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR30,00,000/-
  • The early-bird incentives include a purchase incentive of 20% of Ex-Showroom or INR6,00,000 (whichever is lower), subject to maximum ex-showroom price of vehicle to be INR30,00,000/- for 9 vehicles

  • Domestic tariff will be applicable for charging EVs at residences
  • Public charging facilities in parking areas of residential buildings, commercial and institutional establishments, etc.
  • Public charging facilities at fuel pumps, subject to charging infrastructure qualifying rating, fire & safety standards/norms of relevant authorities under relevant acts/rules
  • Capital subsidy of 25% on the equipment / machinery or INR5 lakhs, whichever is less, per station for first 15 public charging stations for e-2W, e-cars and e-buses
  • May incentivise battery swapping centres in future years once the EV policy is fully in operation
  • Will endeavour to mandate creation of charging infrastructure at all newly constructed housing societies, office complexes, shopping arcades/malls, market areas, hotels & guesthouses
