GreenCell Mobility Secures Major Order for 1,200+ Electric Buses Under PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme
In a significant step forward for India’s electric public transportation initiative, GreenCell Mobility has secured a landmark order for more than 1,200 electric buses under the Government of India’s PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme. The initiative aims to revolutionize urban mobility by introducing sustainable, zero-emission transport solutions across the country.
As part of this order, GreenCell has received a Letter of Award (LoA) for the supply and deployment of 472 Eicher electric buses in collaboration with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) across six cities in Madhya Pradesh. In addition, 750 state-of-the-art electric buses will be rolled out across 11 cities in Andhra Pradesh, in partnership with Pinnacle Mobility Solutions (EKA Mobility).
Supported by Eversource Capital, GreenCell Mobility already operates a fleet of 900 electric buses in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. This new order strengthens the company’s growing presence in Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
“This marks a key milestone in our mission to redefine mass transit through zero-emission electric buses,” said Devndra Chawla, MD & CEO of GreenCell Mobility. “We are proud to support the Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in their transition to clean public transport by leveraging strategic partnerships, innovative financing models, and dependable operations.”

The electric buses deployed under this scheme will feature advanced technology, including a range of over 250 km per charge, fast-charging capability, AI-powered energy optimization, and zero tailpipe emissions. Passenger comfort and safety are also prioritized with features such as air conditioning, ergonomic seating, air suspension, real-time tracking, CCTV surveillance, and comprehensive safety systems.
Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VECV, commented, “We are proud to collaborate with GreenCell Mobility to introduce Eicher electric buses in Madhya Pradesh — a state where we’ve had deep roots for decades. These buses have already logged more than 14 million kilometers across the country, demonstrating their reliability and performance.”
Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility and Pinnacle Industries, added, “Our partnership with GreenCell and the Andhra Pradesh government is a meaningful step toward developing smarter and more sustainable urban centers.”
The PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme, a flagship initiative by the central government, aims to deploy 10,000 electric buses nationwide. Under this program, Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) floated a tender for 4,588 electric buses for FY25. GreenCell Mobility’s latest order represents one of the largest allocations under the scheme to date.
