MoU Signed with Telangana Government for Large-Scale EV Facility
Blackbuck EV has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana to establish a new electric bus manufacturing plant valued at $30 million. The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Telangana’s Minister for Industries, Shri D. Sridhar Babu, underscoring the state’s commitment to expanding its electric mobility footprint.
As part of the agreement, the government has agreed in principle to provide the required land and support infrastructure, enabling a smoother foundation for the project. The facility is expected to significantly expand Blackbuck EV’s production capabilities for e-buses catering to both public and private transport sectors.
State Support to Accelerate Manufacturing and Ecosystem Growth
Telangana’s assurance of ecosystem support is a crucial component of the agreement, providing Blackbuck EV with access to policy assistance, land allocation, and logistical enablement. This support strengthens the company’s ability to deploy manufacturing capacity at scale.
The collaboration aligns with the state’s wider ambition to position itself as a leading EV manufacturing hub through favourable policies, industrial clusters, and technology investments. With the addition of Blackbuck EV’s plant, Telangana’s EV ecosystem is expected to attract more jobs, supply-chain partners, and downstream industries.
Boost to India’s Electric Bus Market
The $30 million plant comes at a time when India’s electric bus demand is growing rapidly across state transport undertakings, metro feeder networks, and private operators. By expanding local production, Blackbuck EV can address rising procurement pipelines and reduce reliance on imported components.
The upcoming facility has the potential to strengthen domestic value creation and enhance the availability of high-quality electric buses. With strong government backing, the project positions Blackbuck EV to emerge as a competitive player in India’s fast-evolving e-bus landscape.
