India’s First 160 km Heavy-Duty Electric Freight Corridor Operational in Gujarat
BillionE Mobility, in collaboration with Hindalco Industries Limited’s Birla Copper Division, has launched Gujarat’s first electric freight corridor for industrial logistics. The 160 km route connects Dahej and Asoj, marking a pivotal step toward decarbonizing India’s heavy commercial transport segment. The initiative introduces 15 Ashok Leyland electric trucks with a 55-ton capacity each. Of these, 10 are being deployed immediately, while five more will join the fleet within three months.
Powered by ChargeZone’s Network for Seamless Charging
To ensure operational reliability, BillionE will leverage ChargeZone’s EV charging infrastructure with stations strategically positioned at Karjan, Bharuch, and a midpoint location along the corridor. These charging hubs will support fast charging and efficient vehicle turnaround, establishing a strong ecosystem for long-haul freight electrification in the state.
Scaling Zero-Emission Freight Across Western India
Once fully operational, the corridor will be extended to key industrial clusters in Vapi, Daman, and Silvassa. This expansion will create Gujarat’s first zero-emission logistics network for heavy freight, reinforcing India’s commitment to sustainable transport. The partnership between BillionE Mobility, Hindalco, and ChargeZone demonstrates the growing synergy between clean energy innovation and industrial decarbonization.
