BATX Energies inaugurates ‘Hub 1’ EV battery recycling and repurposing plant in Uttar Pradesh

Greaves Electric Mobility

Strengthening India’s EV recycling infrastructure

BATX Energies has officially launched its ‘Hub 1’ plant in Uttar Pradesh, a strategic step toward building India’s end-to-end ecosystem for lithium-ion battery recycling and second-life applications. The facility will handle the collection, recycling, and repurposing of used EV batteries, recovering essential minerals such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel for reuse in new batteries and energy storage systems.

Advancing circular economy and sustainability goals

The new plant aligns with India’s broader circular economy framework, supporting the government’s mission to reduce waste and promote domestic material recovery. BATX Energies aims to mitigate the environmental risks of discarded batteries while ensuring efficient resource utilization and minimizing dependence on imported raw materials.

Enabling second-life energy applications

In addition to recycling, the Hub 1 facility will explore battery second-life opportunities — repurposing used cells for stationary storage and renewable energy integration. This approach extends the usable life of lithium-ion batteries and enhances the sustainability of the EV and clean energy sectors.
