Bengaluru’s electric mobility startup River Mobility has achieved a major global milestone, winning the Red Dot Product Design Award 2025 for its flagship Indie electric scooter. This recognition comes just a year after the brand secured the Red Dot Design Concept Award 2024, making it India’s only two-wheeler manufacturer to win both titles in consecutive years.
This achievement cements River Mobility’s position on the global design stage and highlights India’s growing capability in world-class EV product innovation.
Rider-Centric Design Drives Global Recognition
The Red Dot jury praised the Indie for its practical and functional design language tailored to urban Indian riders. Built with a multi-utility focus, the scooter is engineered to deliver convenience, durability, and versatility.

- 43-litre under-seat storage — largest in the segment
- 12-litre front glove box for accessible storage
- Lock-and-load pannier stays for modular luggage carrying
- Impact-resistant body safeguards to reduce fall damage

Vision Backed by Global Investors
Co-founder and CPO Vipin George emphasized that the award reinforces River’s design-first philosophy. “The Indie is built to serve real, everyday needs of Indian riders, not just look futuristic,” he said.
River Mobility, founded in March 2021 by Aravind Mani and Vipin George, is backed by major global investors, including Yamaha Motor Corporation, Mitsui, Marubeni, Toyota Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, Al-Futtaim Group, Maniv Mobility, and Trucks VC.
